YORBA LINDA, Calif. – Grand opening of the highly-anticipated Oakcrest Heights residential community for low- to extremely low-income individuals and families will be held November 28 in the Savi Ranch neighborhood.
The 54-unit apartment community will include support facilities and amenities to help residents build their lives and become more self-sufficient. These include an onsite preschool, an after-school facility next door and an onsite service coordinator who will help provide residents with access to services such as workforce development, financial literacy, adult education and health and wellness.
“We’re excited and honored to fill a critical need for attainable housing in Orange County and appreciate the support we’ve had from the start from the City of Yorba Linda and our other partners,” said Steve PonTell, president and chief executive officer of National CORE (National CORE).
Oakcrest Heights is one of two communities in the Savi Ranch neighborhood developed by National CORE, one of the nation’s largest and most highly-respected nonprofit community builders. The other, Oakcrest Terrace, is a 69-unit apartment community designed to meet the needs of four high-priority market segments: the locally employed, seniors, veterans and families.
Oakcrest Heights will include one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments to households classified as low income, very low income and extremely low income. A number of the units will be set aside for transitional age youth and adults moving out of foster care and into permanent independent living.
“Housing communities such as these are transforming lives by providing quality shelter and life-changing human services that promote upward mobility and financial independence,” said Greg Bradbard, President of the Hope through Housing Foundation, National CORE’s social services partner.
In addition to the City of Yorba Linda, project partners include the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, Citibank, Raymond James, the Federal Home Loan Bank, the California Housing Finance Agency, Orange County Housing Authority and the County of Orange.
