National CORE’s Summit View earned the organization its 11th LEED for Homes Platinum award, a proud display of the community’s distinction of supporting sustainability – boasting a massive rooftop solar panel array and battery storage for off-grid energy use.

Summit View is National CORE’s 33rd community to earn a recognition from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED for Homes recognizes developments that prioritize energy efficiency, water conservation and environmentally responsible design.

Summit View is notable for hosting National CORE’s first 30kW battery storage unit – meaning that the community stores energy from its solar panel array to power emergency lighting and food storage in the event of a power outage.

“We will continue to do what we can, on all developments, to try to get them over the line from Gold into Platinum,” said Tim Kohut, COREvolution executive director. “We’re doing good work and making sure each new community is on the cutting edge for sustainability.”

In addition to the battery storage, Summit View also has a massive 189.83 kW DC rooftop solar panel array with 463 solar panel modules, drought-tolerant landscaping, environmental education workshops and access to public transportation options.

National CORE now holds 33 LEED-certified properties, including 11 Platinum, 21 Gold and one Silver certification.
