CORE’s Got Talent is back! And this time we’re going virtual!

This September, National CORE is seeking talented performers from across our portfolio to compete in this year’s virtual CORE’s Got Talent competition. Send us your video audition for a chance to win up to $1,000 in cash and the opportunity to perform live during this year’s An Evening of Hope, Unlocking Opportunities.

With the talent search open to acts of all ages, National CORE will showcase unique performances from our residents that celebrate the human spirit. Video auditions will be accepted until October 10. All National CORE residents are eligible.

Requirements for Video Submission

  • Video submissions must not exceed 3 minutes in length from start to finish.
  • Video submissions should be sent as MP4 or MOV files up to 50 MB.
  • Please include an introduction to your performance that includes your name and why you should win this year’s CORE’s Got Talent competition.
How to submit your video audition
  • Step I: Request an application and release form from your Community Manager or please visit nationalcore.org/coresgottalent to submit online or to download an application.
  • Step II: Complete your application and release forms.
  • Step III: Record yourself (or have friend help record you) performing your talent. Try to ensure that all parts of your performance are captured in the video to allow the judges to see the full extent of your talent! Please begin each video with your full name and why you believe you should win this year’s CORE’s Got Talent competition at the beginning of your audition file. (*See below for tips & tricks on how to best film a video from your phone)
  • Step IV: Submit your video submission, application, and release forms. There are three ways you can submit your materials:
    • (1) You can submit a physical copy of your forms with a USB including your submission to your Community Manager.
    • (2) You can email your video audition and digital copies of your application and release forms to [email protected].
    • (3) You can upload your video audition and digital copies of your application and release forms at www.nationalcore.org/coresgottalent.

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE

  • Completed Application Form
  • Completed Release Form
  • Video Submission (.MOV or .MP4 files ONLY) – Please remember to include your name and why you believe you should win this year’s CORE’s Got Talent competition at the beginning of your audition file.

**Any submissions that do not include all three items will not be accepted in the contest.**

Eligibility & Guidelines
  • Applicant must be a current resident of a National Community Renaissance community.
  • If submitting a group performance, at least one performer must be a resident of a National Community Renaissance property.
  • Applicants must only participate in ONE submission.
  • All participants under the age of (18) must have parent/guardian signature on the release form.
  • No lip syncing will be accepted.
  • No submissions with live animals.
  • No fire, smoke, or smoke-effect will be allowed at Gala or VIP Reception if chosen winner.
  • Must be appropriate for all audiences.
  • A submission video will not be considered if any portion of the song contains inappropriate or suggestive language, regardless of what portion of the song is used during the act.
  • The following are deemed inappropriate: potty humor/lyrics; references to guns or violence; references to cigarettes/drugs/alcohol; sexual content; explicit language; suggestive body movements; revealing clothes (e.g. bare midriffs, too short shorts, etc.)
  • Video submissions must not exceed 3 minutes in length from start to finish.

Talent show committee representatives reserve the right to approve or reject any video submissions based on evidence or preparation, appropriateness, and overall talent.

Quick Tips for Filming on a Phone
  • Choose a good background: Find a quiet space that isn’t echoey to ensure we can hear your talent as best as possible. Film in a well lit area, where possible face the light but avoid lighting that produces shadows.
  • Shoot horizontally and keep your phone level.
  • Double check your phone’s focus.
