National CORE Director of Development Oscar Paul took center stage at an Oct. 23 Housing and Urban Development symposium, where he impressed industry leaders with news about how National CORE’s faith-based partnerships have led to nearly 400 affordable apartment homes.

The event, called Blueprints to Buildings, welcomed nearly 300 housing development advocates and professionals to the Grand Hyatt San Antonio Riverwalk in Texas to discuss best practices, new strategies and interesting resources to solve the nation’s housing affordability crisis.

Paul spoke about National CORE’s work with the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Nestor United Methodist Church, Santa Ana United Methodist Church and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He also held a series of one-on-one meetings with attendees to discuss challenges and the future of the affordable housing landscape in Texas.

“This was a fantastic gathering of like-minded problem solvers,” Paul said. “It was great to hear how groups are getting affordable housing done, across the country, in new and creative ways. The focus on collaborative efforts and partnerships is a fundamental conversation when we work to produce housing options for those in need.”
