On August 18, with a vote of 3-to-2, the City of Lake Forest approved the development of its first major affordable housing community since 2015. When completed, Mountain View will provide 71 beautiful apartment homes for low-income individuals and families in Orange County. Located off of El Toro Road and Raymond Way, the new development will increase the City’s supply by approximately 20 percent, bringing much-need affordable housing options to residents and individuals working in the City of Lake Forest.

Early on in the process to address challenges of NIMBYism, National CORE took a holistic approach to community outreach and engagement to gain support for the proposed development. By providing a forum for residents to voice their concerns, National CORE was able to build trust and support for the future community. In October of 2019, National CORE hosted an affordable housing bus tour to residents and City Council members of Lake Forest of two of its communities in Yorba Linda, highlighting amenities, onsite services, and architecture.  During the tour, National CORE was able to provide an overview of the proposed development and discuss topics of concern. Many residents shared their personal struggles with housing security.

National CORE is a long-term owner and manager of high-quality affordable housing, working with City leaders and community members to build the future of community.
