HavenCORE, National CORE’s property management division, hosted a July 8 barbecue blowout at The Parkline in downtown Los Angeles with a message for veterans: “We support you.”

The HavenCORE team celebrated current and new residents who have served in the armed forces at The Parkline, which is centrally located in Los Angeles’ bustling downtown area.

The event was held in The Parkline’s courtyard and community room, showcasing the community’s many stunning features, including a rooftop lounge, underground parking and bike storage.

John, a retired Marine and hopeful Parkline resident, said the barbecue was a welcome sight for everyone, especially veterans who are looking for community.

“This is exactly what I want from a community,” he said. “I feel like community is a great thing and this place is perfect for veterans who are struggling to put themselves out there and meet new people.”

Oscar Rosales, veteran engagement specialist for Mental Health America of Los Angeles, said The Parkline is doing a service to the nation’s veterans – providing them with a space to find comfort with other former service members.

“The Metro system is very convenient for many veterans because it connects them to all of Los Angeles and that helps our veterans go out and mingle,” Oscar said. “A lot of veterans don’t have any support, but it’s great that they can find it here at The Parkline.”

Phillip, an Army veteran who served in Panama, has lived at The Parkline for three months. He met with other service members and enjoyed a plate of burgers and hotdogs to usher in the summer. He also thanked HavenCORE’s Alex Murray, assistant property manager, and Devon Bugarin, roving file specialist, for their kindness and customer service.

“I like the peace and serenity that I found here,” said Phillip. “I love relaxing on the rooftop and the quiet of this community. More importantly, The Parkline treats veterans with respect.”

HavenCORE manages more than 14,000 apartments for National CORE and third-party clients. The Parkline, which opened earlier this year, provides 376 affordable apartments. Learn more at theparklinemain.com.
