A Life Transformed: Follow Up at Valley Senior Village

Valley Senior Village resident Guy is celebrating seven months of flourishing at National CORE’s Escondido-based affordable housing community, cheerfully explaining that he’s “happy, healthy and enjoying life!”

Guy said living at Valley Senior Village has been a godsend for him. He’s in regular contact with his daughters and grandchildren again, he’s made new friends with other residents and he’s about to hit his two-year milestone for sobriety on June 29.

Guy also has a new roommate – a dog named Marianne, a terrier, shih tzu, schnauzer mix. Guy said she keeps him happy and healthy. He loves taking her on long walks around beautiful downtown Escondido.

“I look at where I was with my alcoholism and mental illness and things have improved dramatically since I moved here,” Guy said. “National CORE provides me with a safe place to live. It’s drug and smoke free and the staff is very attentive to the property and residents. It really gives me peace of mind knowing that National CORE cares.”
