SAN BERNARDINO, May 20, 2014 – E. Neal Roberts, the Hope through Housing Foundation and First 5 San Bernardino celebrated the end of the school year with the unveiling of a community-based mural focused on hope as well as a career day with over 15 professional booths for students to visit.

San Bernardino Unified School District representative and city officials participated in the unveiling. The mural was painted and sketched by lead artists Alex Aguirre and Luis Soto. Over the weekend, parents, students, staff, and volunteers from Hope through Housing, First5, and Americorp collaborated in finishing the mural.

The concept and images on the mural, focusing on academics and careers, were gathered from drawings by E. Neal students and suggestions from parents and staff.

After the unveiling, students spent the day learning about diverse career backgrounds during one-on-one conversations with professionals. The Career Fair featured presentations from First 5, Tap Out, medical professionals, police and firefighters, hair designers and professional photographers.
