YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. – National CORE today officially announced the name and move-in schedule for its highly-anticipated affordable senior housing development in Yucca Valley.
Dumosa Senior Village will feature 73 one-bedroom and one two-bedroom units for residents 55 and older who meet income limits. The first phase, featuring 31 units, is expected to open for move-in in July. The second phase, featuring 43 units, is expected to open in October or November.
“We’re proud to work with the Town of Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County and our finance partners on this much-needed project. The need for quality senior housing has never been greater, and we can’t wait to welcome our first residents,” said Steve PonTell, President and Chief Executive Officer for National CORE.
Dumosa Senior Village will feature a community center with a computer lab and fitness room, senior programs, centralized laundry rooms and outdoor meeting spaces. The one-bedroom rooms will contain 670 square feet of space.
To qualify, residents must earn less than 55 percent of Area Median Income (AMI). Some units will be further restricted to residents earning less than 30 percent, 45 percent and 50 percent of AMI.
Additional information and applications for leasing will be distributed and accepted on April 21 and 24, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Yucca Room of the Community Center Complex, 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway, Yucca Valley, CA 92284.
On the same dates, applications for employment will be accepted for one apartment manager (tax credit experience preferred) and one maintenance technician who will be employed at this property.
In addition to Yucca Valley and the county, partners include the  Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, R4 Capital, JPMorgan Chase and Bonneville Multifamily Capital as permanent lender.
“We’re committed to projects that transform lives and the community as a whole,” PonTell said. “Our partnership with Yucca Valley is one we strongly believe will benefit not just the residents of Dumosa Senior Village, but the entire town.”
